Tilting Arrows is a 2024 Graduate of South Lyon High School.  He has loved music his entire life.  Born in Atlanta, Georgia he attended infant music classes at 6 months old.  After moving to Michigan at age 3, he was diagnosed with autism, and began music therapy.  At a young age he discovered that he had perfect pitch and enjoyed playing all instruments. Elementary school music helped him begin to develop music as a passion.  He began transposing, arranging, composing, leading, and teaching.  He studied piano, recorder, trombone, and guitar.  In 7th grade, he auditioned for and won a seat in the MSBOA All-State Middle School Band.  He participated in Trombone Ensembles with U of M and the DSO and Jazz with the DSO.  Shortly thereafter he became interested in Electronic Dance Music and composition using his Digital Audio Workstation and a new journey emerged.  Most days find him composing, arranging, listening, and playing music.  To follow his passion, he is enrolled as a degree student at Berklee College of Music Online.  His interdisciplinary major includes “Electronic Music Production and Sound Design,” as well as “Composition for Film, TV, and Video Games.”  His goal is for his music to reach as many people as possible.

Tilting Arrows wrote Emote Note By Note, a Recorder book for elementary music instruction, during an Independent Study his senior year.  One of the compositions from this book (Feel Good) was selected by the Young Composers of Michigan and was honored at the YCM Premier Concert 2024.  As part of his Independent Study, he spoke to young people and educators about helping kids compose and finding inspiration all around.

Also during his senior year of high school, he composed an Electro-Acoustic arrangement called Laboratory that combines live performance of wind and percussion instruments with electronic music and sounds.  Laboratory was selected by Young Composers of Michigan as a concert selection and will be performed at the YCM Premier Concert 2025 at the MSBOA Michigan Music Conference in Grand Rapids, MI.

He would like to thank his family for their support and guidance through all of his young life and his musical journey.  He would also like to thank Mrs. Rose, who he met in Kindergarten, and who continues to be his music mentor, friend, and collaborator.
